In november 2013 Hiltl opened the first vegetarian butcher shop in Switzerland. It sits next to their famous ‘Haus Hiltl’, the oldest (115 years!) vegetarian restaurant in the world, about which I have written before. Hiltl has been in business for over 100 years. This makes it the oldest known vegetarian restaurant in the world and a must to visit when you are in Zurich. Even carnivores will admit that the food at Hiltl is delicious. I have been a regular at Hiltl for many years now and the quality of the food has only increased. There are a couple menu mainstays but the staff keeps on developing new delightful dishes. For me this is one of their strengths and a great reason to be coming back.
