Aletta van Beeck, born in The Netherlands, travelled to Costa Rica many years ago to learn more about sustainability. She found her way to Bonaire and created the lovely Aletta’s goat farm Semper Kontentu. The farm is mostly built with recycled materials Aletta is assisted by volunteers, milking and herding the goats.

At the farm they produce the fresh Semper Kontentu Goat Cheese by hand. It’s available at the local supermarkets and at restaurants in Bonaire. The cheese is soft and full of flavour. At the farm they also produce yoghurt, which they also sell, along with the milk, meat and skin.

The goat meat is used in the local stews, Bonairians love goat meat! and the skin is turned into beautiful bags by designer Lida Dortmundt from Bokibag. Aletta has already set herself the next challenge, to make her own eco-‘Rivella’, a refreshing soft drink made from whey. If you are in Bonaire do visit her farm for a tour and don’t forget to taste her products!
